Network Services

The network services described in this section are primarily targeted at campus networking staff, including Network Administrators. If you are looking for information describing how to get a connection to the UCSB data network, please see Connect to the UCSB Network.

UCSB Network Services are provided by multiple units within the Office of Information Technology, as listed below.

Network Operations Center (NOC)

The UCSB Network Operations Center (NOC) exists to manage and maintain the campus backbone data network, campus wide-area network links, links to Internet networks, and related services, including network diagrams and traffic statistics. The NOC status line is (805) 893-2800. Network Administrators may contact the NOC to request a connection to the backbone data network.

Campus Network Programmers

The Campus Network Programmers provide a variety of higher level networking services, including backbone network status monitoring, network time services, SSL Certificates, and Domain Name Service. Network Administrators may contact hostmaster@ucsb.edu for Subdomain, Subnet, and VLAN ID requests.

Communications Services

Communications Services designs and implements the campus-wide data communications networks, including providing communications wiring and data circuits.
